South Sweden Trip

Just letting friends and family know where we have been during our south Sweden trip. We went from Trelleborg to Falsterbo, Ystad, Sandhammaren, Senoren, Böda Sand, Västervik, Gränna, Marstrand, Mölle, Helsingborg and from there back to Trelleborg. We have had an awesome trip, everything went fine.

Project white cupboard

Recently I came to the idea to re-paint the corridor furnitures. I gave the project the name white cupboard. The results of my hard work are shown below (approx. 20h).

How to send your blogger posts to facebook?

I found a way via the facebook app RSS Graffiti. Just install it into your facebook account and within the configuration tab use as source the blogger RSS feed "http://YOURNAME.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss" and as destination your facebook profile.

Little Miss Sunshine - SB800 SB600 off camera flash

Inspired by Mr.Joe McNally's book "The Hot Shoe Diaries" I came to the idea to use my SB800 and my SB600 more in daylight situation. The picture below has been created in such a way. Approx. 1,5 m to the right of little Miss sunshine I placed two flashes behind a cotton sheet and adjusted them +1 EV.  

DRI with LR / Enfuse

LR/Enfuse is a pluging for Adobe Lightroom which gives your the possibility to blend multiple exposures directly within Lightroom. A couple of month ago I did some test with the photoshop HDR funktionality without real success. Therefore I stopped any HDR work until know. I tested Enfuse recently and the result came out very nice. I think I will start to shoot HDR / DRI images again. Have a look at the images below and judge by yourself.

Whitewall prints just arrived....

I proudly announce that got my prints from whitewall today. To be honest  I was really suspicious with my soft proofing work in advanced. (see previous post). But the results on my wall are really outstanding.

 

Workaround DRI / HDR limitation Nikon D7000

The automatic exposure bracketing (AEB) feature off the good Nikon D7000 has a limitation of 3 frames only. This might be ok for 90 percent of all HDR situation which you normaly encounter ok. For the remaining 10 percent of situation you could use following workaround. The main drawback of the workaround is that you have to touch the camera during the frame creation time.



The main idea of the above mentioned scenario is that you use 3 time the standard bracketing function (a 3 frame) in conjunction with exposure compensation.

1. use A or M mode only
2. use Self-Timer Release Mode (no camera movement - automatic firing)

Preparing Images for Whitewall

1. Download color profile from  http://de.whitewall.com/faq
1. Hahnemühle „William Turner” Büttenpapier (310g/m²), matt 
   Premium K3 Art Pigment Print mit Epson Pro 11880
2. install profile 
3. start photoshop
4. open image
5. choose view/proof setup and select the respective whitewall profile
6. choose view/color proof (STR+Y) to inspect your image

recommended workflow from whitewall

1. Starten von Adobe Photoshop
2. Öffnen der zu simulierenden Datei
3. Menü > Ansicht > Proof einrichten > Benutzerde...
4. Das Profil unter "zu simulierendes Gerät" auswählen
5. "RGB-Nummern erhalten" nicht anwählen
6. Renderpriorität "Relativ farbmetrisch" mit "Tiefenkompensierung"
7. Optional "Papierfarbe simulieren"
8. Bestätigung des Dialogs mit OK
9. Überprüfen sie Ihr Farbprofil im Vollbildmodus auf grauem Hintergrund

If your are not satisfied withe the result, than try following adjustments

1. add an adjustment layer Exposure "Gamma +1,3" "Offset -0,0053"
2. add an  adjustment layer Curve "make a nice S-Curve" in order to raise up the contrasct

After the soft proof is done, save your image as TIFF

1. choose layers/falten image
2. choose channels and delete any unused channels 
3. choose edit/convert to profile and select as destination space Adobe RGB (1998)
4. choose file/save as TIFF
